Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)’s Central Laboratory has been accredited for ISO/IEC 17025:2005 by the Dubai Accreditations Centre (DAC). The accreditation includes the requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories, and is adopted by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The accreditation is for both environmental and petrochemical testing services, with its scope covering 13 parameters in water, and 3 for oil. This supports DEWA’s leadership in adopting the highest international standards and best practices, and adheres to the directives of its wise leadership to improve services, according to the highest standards of quality.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, has received the certification from Nasser Lootah, Executive Vice President of Generation at DEWA. Al Tayer expressed his pride and happiness about the accreditation of DEWA’s Central Lab, noting that this accreditation adds to DEWA’s list of achievements in excellence and high standards. Al Tayer also stressed the importance of meeting the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2005, as it includes the technical requirements necessary to prove the efficiency of measurements and calibrations.“In line with the vision and directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to be first in all fields and to apply best practices and highest standards of quality at work, DEWA strives to achieve leadership in everything it does.

DEWA’s Central Lab holds an important place in the list of priorities in DEWA’s continuous development process, due to the sensitivity and nature of its work, and the importance of the accuracy of results. Receiving this prestigious certification confirms that we are on the right path, and motivates us to achieve more success and progress. As His Highness once observed, “Success is not a destination, but a journey. Each time that you reach a summit on this journey, you must look ahead to the next one.” We are committed to achieving our vision to become a sustainable innovative world-class utility, and enhancing our contribution to the achievement of the objectives of the UAE Vision 2021 to make the UAE one of the best countries in the world, and the Dubai Plan 2021, to promote the Emirate as a global model,” said Al Tayer.

Al Tayer applauded DAC’s efforts, as well as the efforts of DEWA staff in the Central Lab, and other divisions, as they succeeded in receiving this accreditation, according to the highest standards of measurement and calibration. Al Tayer emphasised DEWA’s continuous support to its staff, as well as its provision of all the necessary requirements, to continue the process of excellence and success, in all its sectors.
