· Contracts Awarded to Key Consultants
Manama: Amlak, the real estate investment arm and a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Social Insurance Organization (SIO), announced today the commencement of the second phase of 'Bahrain Marina' and the successful awarding of new contracts.
"We are pleased with the progress made so far on the Bahrain Marina Development Project; further reiterating Amlak's commitment in developing a world-class facility. We have also appointed the most experienced consultants to drive forward next phase of the ambitious project," said Amlak's CEO, Mr Mohamed Abdulelah Al Kooheji, in a statement issued today.
"The second phase of the project focuses on two main aspects; clearing the existing site and finalizing the detailed masterplan in order to move forward into the development phase. The team will also be conducting a number of on-site studies including extensive marine studies," he added.
Amlak confirmed the appointment of Benoy, an internationally known architectural firm, as the lead designer for the project. Benoy has vast experience in working alongside largescale projects in the region including Yas Island master plan, Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi and The Beach in Dubai.
Project Management has been awarded to Bruce Shaw, an international group of construction and consultancy professionals serving clients in over 40 Countries. The Global construction group has offices in the Kingdom of Bahrain UK and France..
Among other contracts awarded by Amlak, is the appointment of HAJ as Quantity Surveyors, Hyder Consulting as Traffic and Road Consultants and AECOM as Marine Consultants.
"The selection of the consultants reflects our commitment to excellence and is indicative of our careful approach to developments. We believe in providing international standards across all our projects. Amlak aims through this development to launch a national landmark that will support and drive the tourism industry and overall economy of the Kingdom," said Mr Al Kooheji.
The 'Bahrain Marina Development Project', dubbed as an iconic world-class facility, will be adopting modern urban design and will comprise of state-of-the-art residential, entertainment, leisure and marina facilities.
The planned development stretches along a pristine coastline in Manama and will be positioned as the Kingdom's prime lifestyle and leisure destination. Aiming for completion during 2020; the mix-used project will include five star luxury hotel and serviced apartments along with freehold apartments and waterfront villas, shopping mall, fully-integrated family entertainment and educational centre and a recreational waterfront space with dining and retail spaces. The yacht club will cover an impressive area with the capacity of birthing a vast number of boats of different sizes.
