Dubai:  The AccessAbilities Expo-2019, to be held in Dubai in November with the participation of key UAE government authorities, decision- makers, public officials and community members, will pace up the efforts to enhance the services for the People of Determination and widen their integration into our society, along with enabling them overcome their challenges towards achieving sustainable development, remarked the UAE Minister of Community Development.

Her Excellency Hessa Bint Essa Buhumaid also referred to the initiatives of her Ministry to empower the People of Determination such as the National Policy for Empowering People of Determination, People of Determination Recruitment Platform as well as the approval of the UAE Universal Design Code by the UAE Cabinet in its first session for this year.

She said a number of efforts of the Ministry for the People of Determination has remained on top of its agenda in terms of projects, initiatives and ideas that would achieve in realizing the aspirations and directives of the government in ensuring that the UAE maintains a friendly environment for the People of Determination.

The Expo, held annually under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airlines and Group, is organized by the Reed Exhibitions and NADD AL SHIBA PR & EVENT MANAGEMENT. This year’s Expo will be held from November 5 to 7 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Center (DICEC).

The UAE Universal Design Code’s aim is to transform the country have friendly cities and environment for the People of Determination and senior Emiratis, she said. The Design Code has been set out to ensure the availability of comprehensive services and facilities that are accessible to the People of Determination and they become active members in the sustainable development process, she added.

Her Excellency hoped that the AccessAbilities Expo will achieve the goals of the Ministry efficiently, especially in the implementation of the UAE Universal Design Code, UAE Federal Government Strategy and Vision 2021.

The Design Code provides the required technical specifications needed for the People of Determination in order to achieve their empowerment, raise their productivity and also to establish high levels of happiness and positivity.  The Code is a guide for all the authorities concerned to unite their efforts to ensure the homogeneity of components of the urban environment, along with making an accessible environment in all the existing facilities like roads, public vehicles, land, sea and air transport, indoor and outdoor facilities including homes, schools, healthcare facilities and workplaces.
