UAE delegation to depart on the inaugural flydubai service to Uzbekistan

H.E Al Mansoori: Economic relations with Central Asian countries strong and growing

Abu Dhabi - The Ministry of Economy will visit the Republic of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan current week to hold joint economic committees with both countries. The delegation, headed by H.E. Eng. Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori, UAE Minister of Economy, will include a number of senior officials from the ministries and other federal entities and local government bodies, as well as a number of representatives of business enterprises and investment companies in the country.

The 3rd session of the joint economic committee between the UAE and the Republic of Uzbekistan will be held at its capital Tashkent on the first day of the visit. flydubai's direct service connecting both countries will also be inaugurated on the same day. The delegation’s visit coincides with the launch of flydubai service between Dubai and Tashkent. The next day, the UAE delegation will travel to Bishkek, capital of Kyrgyzstan, where the first session of the Joint Economic Committee of the UAE and the Kyrgyz Republic will be held.

H.E. Eng. Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori said that the UAE continues its efforts to strengthen its international economic partnerships with various promising international markets. He added that the formation of strong ties with new economic, trade and investment destinations is a key aspect of the country's policy to build a diversified, competitive and flexible global economy based on knowledge and innovation. He pointed that the Central Asian region is one of the country’s key focus areas, given the strength of bilateral relations with the countries of this region. The abundance of diverse and wide opportunities to promote trade exchanges and investment in these countries makes it even more important.

The minister explained that the joint economic committee with Uzbekistan represents an important step forward in elevating cooperation between both countries to higher levels. He added that the areas of cooperation are diverse and important, especially small and medium enterprises, innovation, civil aviation, financial services and tourism, investment in energy and renewable energy sectors, agriculture and food products, petrochemical and chemical industries.

Meanwhile, the Joint Economic Committee with Kyrgyzstan, the first session of which will be held during the visit, will represent a very important step in the development of an effective roadmap for economic cooperation with this friendly country. Furthermore, priority sectors will be identified for both countries in the fields of agriculture, food security and related industries, as well as in the fields of energy, renewable energy and civil aviation.

Gaith Al Gaith, Chief Executive Officer of flydubai, said that the launch of flydubai services to the Uzbek capital falls in line with the expansion and growth strategy of flydubai to operate direct flights to underserved markets, which will boost the flows of travel and trade with these markets.

The volume of non-oil trade between the UAE and the Republic of Uzbekistan reached USD 387 million in 2017, while the non-oil trade volume with Kyrgyzstan amounted to more than USD 310 million.
