Vezeeta, the leader in digital healthcare platforms across the Middle East and North Africa, has ranked fifth among Forbes Middle East list of Top 100 Startups in the Arab World for 2017. The 100 Arab startups comprise companies that have championed the most innovative ideas based on their business model.

“This is a very proud moment for all us as we move one step closer to becoming the leading digital platform in the MENA region and reshape the healthcare industry,” said Amir Barsoum, Vezeeta’s Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder. “Our objective to create a healthcare ecosystem by connecting various healthcare providers using digital cloud-based solutions is transforming healthcare in our region. Being recognized by Forbes Middle East as a top five startup in the region is a testament to the strength and value of our work.”

The other four startups on the list alongside Vezeeta are: the top-ranked Fetchr (UAE), followed by Anghami (Lebanon), HolidayMe (UAE) and PayTabs (KSA). The results were announced during the Forbes ME Innovators event that took place in Dubai on the 1st October.

Vezeeta, a digital healthcare booking platform for patients and doctors founded in 2012, has received US$ 11 million in funding from investors such as the Technology and Development Fund, Silicon Badia, Beco Capital, Vostok New Ventures, and Endeavor Catalyst. The company employs 165 team members at their offices in Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon, with plans to expand their footprint across North Africa, UAE and the Saudi region in 2018.

With an annual estimate of 33 million private consultation visits in Egypt, Vezeeta successfully helped around one million patients to find and book appointments in 2017 through its diversified network of healthcare professionals and providers. This number indicates triple the growth in Vezeeta’s number of appointments compared to 2016.
