The conference will feature programmes focussing on specialist areas in fertility and reproductive medicine

United Arab Emirates, Sharjah: In an endeavour to discuss advancements in fertility treatments, the 15th Emirates Obstetrics Gynaecology & Fertility Forum (EOFF) will be held on January 17th - 19th, at Medical and Health Sciences Colleges Campus at University of Sharjah. The conference will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah and will be inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Sharjah. The three-day conference will feature an exciting, cutting-edge programme of high profile, scientific international experts and speakers, with a wide range of concurrent sessions focussing on specialist areas in fertility and reproductive medicine.

While the three-day conference, hosted by Dr Awatif Al Bahar, President of EOFF and Director of Sharjah Fertility Center at UHS, will feature many scientific presentations,  it will also feature four workshops that will focus on hysteroscopy, fertility, ALSO provider course and ultrasound in obstetrics and gynaecology.

“UHS has always been a pioneer in medical advancements, and with Dr Awatif leading the fertility clinic at UHS, we are confident that patients will be offered the best treatment options. While Dr Awatif’s contributions and achievements are manifold, her expertise in bringing best practices and internationally accredited doctors to this conference is commendable. Through this conference, we aim to identify paradigm changes and advancements in reproductive medicine, which will be of interest to the medical fraternity,” said Dr Ali Obaid Al Ali - CEO and Member of Board of Trustees, University Hospital Sharjah

It has been observed that in the MENA region, population has an increase from 100 million in 1950 380 million in 2017, and is expected to increase to 700 million by 2050. However, overall fertility rates have decreased from seven children per women in 1960 to just below 3 in 2017, paving way for fertility treatments.

The Middle East is a major contributor to the global IVF market due to advanced and well-developed IVF procedures. Medical tourism in the region accounts for 10 to 15 percent of IVF patient volumes, with 15 to 30 percent parents opting for IVF treatments to conceive children (having first child through natural conception) and 10 to 15 percent returning to IVF centres for another successful treatment. In addition to the Middle East, countries like U.K., France, and Germany also play key roles in the development of the in vitro fertilization market.

“Infertility is a growing condition around the world, which has led to several enhancements in reproductive medicine. This conference will not only discuss some breakthroughs in fertility treatments, but also increase awareness and accessibility for patients looking to opt for fertility treatments,” said, Dr Awatif Al Bahar, President of EOFF and Director of Sharjah Fertility Center at UHS.

The conference will bring together obstetrician-gynaecologists, clinical fertility specialists and experts from UAE and other world countries.
