The Al Batinah Expressway will be opened for motorists next Wednesday, December 19, making driving to UAE from Oman a lot easier.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC) of Oman has announced the opening of Al Batinah Expressway, which coincides with the ongoing celebrations of the Sultanate's 48th National Day.

"His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said has appointed His Highness Sayyid Fatik Bin Fahar Al Said to attend the official opening ceremony of Al Batinah Expressway on Wednesday, December 19, 2018," a statement from ministry was quoted by Times of Oman.

According to areport inMuscat Daily, the expressway includes four lanes in each direction with a width of 3.75m for each lane with external asphalt shoulders of 3m and internal width of 2m.
