Omantel, the Sultanate’s pioneering integrated telecommunications services provider, is bringing more convenience to the people of Oman, this time by joining hands with National Life and General Insurance company (NLG Oman), an Ominvest Group company.

As part of its larger goal of facilitating e-services in every sphere, Omantel will be enabling the purchase of car insurance and premium payment through its Self-Service Machines located across the country, and in the process, becoming the first company in Oman to provide this facility.

This facility is an addition to the ROP services which Omantel had enabled access to for users from its Self-Service Machines (SSMs) a year ago. It will bring more convenience for NLG clients, be it individual car owners, new buyers, government clients or corporate organizations by saving their time and effort.

To buy a car insurance or pay the premium, a user can proceed in easy steps at any of the 15 Omantel Self Service Machines (SSMs) that are available at primary locations across the country. The easy user interface and navigation guides the user to the NLG page wherein he/she is prompted to fill in the required details like the type of insurance cover (third party or comprehensive), Civil ID number, license plate number and code, mobile number, vehicle seating capacity and vehicle value (if comprehensive policy). Once these details are punched in, the user is directed to the next steps of entering their name, choosing the financial institution if mortgaged, confirmation of the premium amount and lastly clicking on the ‘pay’ tab to finalize the transaction. The facility completes the transaction in a matter of minutes and easily.

Details of the policy purchased will be sent to the user’s registered e-mail address, and a link to download the policy will be sent via SMS.

Commenting on this innovative smart solution, Aladdin Abdullah Bait Fadhil, Vice President, Consumer Business Unit at Omantel, said, “Our company’s zeal for making new digital products and service available to people within the shortest possible time and innovative thinking form the base of this partnership with NLG Oman. The new product available on Omantel’s Self-Service Machines is the first in Oman, and we at Omantel are proud to have facilitated such a unique service. It is a fast, easy, secure and convenient way to buy a car insurance or pay premiums without the need to visit offices physically.”

Mr. S. Venkatachalam, Chief Executive Officer of NLG Oman, said, “This is a first-of-its-kind service to be rolled out for the people of Oman and we could have no better partner than Omantel to enable it. At NLG Oman, we care for our policy subscribers; be it individuals or business owners, citizens or expatriates. We wished to add an element of convenience to the entire process of car insurance purchase and premium payment for them. This partnership with Omantel is also a nod to the Sultanate’s digital future. We are looking forward to see the initiative’s positive impact.”

Omantel’s Self-Service Machines are conveniently placed at 15 locations across Oman, like the Qurum City Centre, Muscat Mall, Omantel headquarters, Muscat City Center, The Royal Office, Al Khoud and Al Amerat in the Muscat capital area and in other locations outside Muscat like Nizwa Grand Mall, Salalah Al Saadh Bill Payment Machine, Salalah City, Ibri, Sur, Ibra, Omantel’s Sohar office and Al Buraimi.
