For many Palestinians, it’s all about rebuilding piece by piece. An estimated 90 percent of start-ups fail, but imagine how difficult it is to run one in Palestine, a country that faces multiple additional barriers, including occupation, limited finance and a lack of control over market infrastructure. Despite these challenges, BuildPalestine, a Ramallah-based crowdfunding platform for social impact projects, is determined to make a difference.

Following Saudi Arabia’s decision to lift a ban on Saudi women driving, top brands have started to jump on the bandwagon, and the ads have started to roll in. Take a look at the ones by Coca Cola and the auto majors. Of course, most of these went viral on the social media. We asked readers whether they think the new ads targeting Saudi women drivers are too cheesy.

Here's a success story from Saudi Arabia. My Salaam celebrated designer Ayah Al Bitar, a Riyadh native trained at Parsons’ The New School for Design in New York and who now runs her own business. Ayah aims to drive social changes through her works. “My pieces create dialogue about social change in a more light-hearted, less formal manner, and this aids change and puts different thoughts in people’s minds,” Ayah told My Salaam.

This one's about an exhibition, 'Islam, It’s Also Our History!' in Brussels, Belgium. It makes an attempt to showcase the legacy of 13 centuries of Muslim culture in Europe. Take a look at the six exhibits that show Europe and Islam's common history.

Perhaps one of the most important stories from the UAE this week is about the opening of The Louvre Abu Dhabi on November 11. Keep checking My Salaam for all the latest stories and images of the grand museum.
