Dubai : Drake & Scull International PJSC (DSI) announced the completion of phase 1 of Sabah Al-Salem University development in Shadadiya, Kuwait. The 2nd, and final, phase is expected to be handed over before the end of the year. Under the terms of the 200 million contract, the subsidiary DSI in Kuwait undertook the construction, operation and maintenance of Electrical, Mechanical and Plumbing Works including Fire Alarm System, HVAC System and all Low Voltage Works as well as the Supply, Installation, Testing & Commissioning and Maintenance of all Electrical and Mechanical works in the colleges of Arts & Education.

Kuwait University’s new campus in Al-Shadadiya received last week the first batch of its students for the new first semester of 2019-2020 academic year. The new campus also witnessed an inspection visit by The Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education in Kuwait Dr. Hamed Al-Azmi.

Al-Azmi said that the opening of six faculties came in line with the plan of transition and operation approved by the higher Council of the University, and affirmed the near completion of the other faculties to ensure their gradual opening as per the plan, pointing out that all facilities and capabilities are available to guarantee that the project does not falter, as it is one of the most important development projects the country due to its role in the preparation of future generations.

DSI has been operating in Kuwait through its subsidiary, Drake & Scull for Electrical Contracting, since 2004 and has been associated with several prominent construction and engineering projects, including the Special Training Centre for Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, the Nursing Institute, and British Industries Printing Press in Shuwaikh; the College of Basic Education - Boys Campus in Ardiya; Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry Headquarters, the State Audit Bureau of Kuwait, and Public Institution for Social Security Building in Kuwait City; the Immigration Complex; and Nasser Tower.
