The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation-UAE has urged Emiratis who are currently overseas to return to their homeland at the earliest.

According to a tweet on the ministry's official Twitter account, this is due to the suspension of air travel by several countries, including the UAE, amid the Covid-19 outbreak.

UAE authorities earlier announced the suspension of all inbound and outbound passenger flights within 48 hours for two weeks.

In a statement, the Civil Aviation Authority said that cargo and emergency evacuation flights would be exempt, taking into consideration all the precautionary measures adopted as per the recommendations of the Ministry of Health and Prevention.

"Additional examination and isolation arrangements will be taken later should flights resume in order to ensure the safety of passengers, air crews, and airport personnel and their protection from infection risks," said the statement.
