Work on the Hajiyat residential project in Bahrain is progressing as per schedule with the main construction already 98 per cent completed, reported the BNA, citing the kingdom's housing minister.

The project, which includes 126 AZ flats in four apartment buildings, represents an extension of other housing units in the neighbouring area in Hijiyat.

The Hijiyat projects are a core part of the programme to construct 25,000 units in line with the Government Action Plan (GAP), which stems from the royal order to build 40,000 units, it stated.

"The main infrastructure work has reached 59 per cent,” revealed Housing Minister Basem bin Yacoub Al Hamer.

Al Hamer stressed the ministry’s resolve to spare no effort to fast-track all housing projects, which are under construction countrywide, in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier to distribute 5,000 units, the report added.
