Dubai: American Hospital Dubai, part of Mohamed & Obeid Al Mulla Group, one of the leading pioneers of private healthcare in the Middle East, has been recognized as the only medical facility out of USA to be awarded the ultrasound practice accreditation in the areas of Abdomen/General, Breast – Diagnostic, and Breast – Interventional from the Ultrasound Practice Accreditation Council of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM).

Being granted this prestigious accolade aligns with American Hospital Dubai’s vision of making the region healthier and more sustainable through quality care, innovation, and medical excellence.

Sherif Beshara, Chief Executive Officer of Mohamed & Obeid Al Mulla Group, said: “As the first medical imaging department out of USA to achieve an internationally recognized accreditation of the highest American standards in ultrasound, we are progressing upon the hospital’s pioneering and guiding principles of clinical excellence. We are determined to push the bar even higher in the Middle East when it comes to medical imaging standards — a commitment we share with the AIUM — and are proud to showcase our adherence to the highest standards of quality and safety in ultrasound imaging practice.”

Abreast from the AIUM accreditation, American Hospital Dubai also passed rigorous onsite inspections and evaluation procedures to maintain the accreditation of its laboratory from the College of American Pathologists (CAP) for the tenth consecutive time. The CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program is approved by the American federal government, and in 2001, American Hospital Dubai’s laboratory was the first private lab in the Middle East to earn its accreditation.

American Hospital Dubai became the first hospital in the Middle East to be awarded the JCI accreditation in May 2000 and has successfully maintained its accreditation seven times. Its laboratory was also the first private lab in the Middle East to earn accreditation by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and was accredited for the ninth consecutive time in 2017. In June 2016, the hospital became the inaugural Middle East member of the prestigious Mayo Clinic Care Network, with a team of physicians able to collaborate and leverage the expertise of Mayo Clinic for the betterment of patients in the UAE and the surrounding region.
