Over 93 per cent of the UAE residents have "full confidence" in the ability of the government to handle the Covid-19 pandemic, a survey has found. The Department of Community Development (DCD) in Abu Dhabi launched the survey in April 2020 to examine the impact of Covid-19 on life in the Capital.

Over 50,000 people took part in the study.

Effect on daily life

Though 82 per cent respondents reported a "significant or dramatic impact on daily life", about 97 per cent said "it is of high importance that government, communities and individuals work together" to curb its spread.

About 87 per cent residents said they are "concerned or very concerned" about the pandemic, with fear of a loved one getting affected stated as the top concern.

Work from home

Though home life is "challenging", 91.2 per cent respondents said they feel "more connected to family". About 50 per cent residents are working from home full-time

Around 30 per cent said staff levels have been cut, with 36 per cent saying they are being considered.

News media is the primary source of information for the respondents, followed by health professionals and social media.
