China-based inverter manufacturer Sungrow announced on Wednesday that it has signed an agreement with the Shanghai Electric Group to supply its 1500V 6.25 MW turnkey solution to the 900 megawatt fifth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in Dubai.
Shanghai Electric is the Engineering, Construction and Procurement (EPC) contractor of the fifth phase, which was awarded to a consortium of ACWA Power and Gulf Investment Corporation (GIC) bidding a winning tariff of 1.6953 US cents/kWh.
The fifth phase is expected to become operational in the second quarter of 2021, Sungrow said in a press statement.
The company's inverter installed base worldwide stands at over 120 gigawatts as of June 2020, according to the statement.
