• Innovative Global Program to Have Permanent Exhibition and Classroom of the Future Showcase

World Class Scholars (WCS), a real-time online education and cultural exchange program, will make its global debut at Expo 2020 Dubai, helping to further Expo’s theme and purpose of ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’.

The program – a platform to match teachers and students for learning that is already active in the United States and 25 other countries – is a place where teachers and students around the world ‘connect, learn and share’. WCS will form the centerpiece of a ‘Classroom of the Future’ showcase and exhibit at Expo, continuing after the six-month event and creating millions of global classroom partnerships for years to come.

Expo 2020 Dubai will be a once-in-a-lifetime celebration – the largest event ever staged in the Arab world that will welcome 191 participating countries and millions of visitors from around the world. As a global gathering dedicated to bringing together people, communities and nations to build bridges, inspire action and deliver real-life solutions to real-world challenges, Expo is the perfect place to launch this bold and innovative globally important education program.

The ambitious goal of WCS is to connect a minimum of three million classrooms by the end of 2022 and 15 million more classrooms in three years.

In addition to creating global classroom partnerships, a key part of World Class Scholars at Expo will be a ‘Classroom of the Future’ showcase that will highlight new and innovative ideas, technologies, NGOs, companies, and government activities that represent new initiatives that will shape the future of education worldwide.

Mohammed Alhashmi, Chief Technology Officer, Expo 2020 Dubai, said: “At Expo 2020 Dubai, we believe that education is a right, not a privilege, and that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed. By working with World Class Scholars, we are connecting more students with teachers around the world, enabling and inspiring students to explore, create and learn, and helping us achieve our mission of building a better future for all.”

In the Covid era, new thinking is more important than ever, and World Class Scholars, working with Expo 2020, will connect millions of students in real-time online education and cultural exchanges to make this new thinking and new world a reality – and create millions of ongoing global classrooms.

The WCS project is designed to help students learn the skills they need to work effectively in the interconnected global world of the 21st century.  Students will: 1) learn to use new technology effectively; 2) work collaboratively with others of different countries; and 3) connect to people, cultures, and ideas in the wider world around them.

WSC is designed around a set of standard formats, templates, and samples that can easily be used by teachers and students in grades 1‐12 and in almost any subject area.

“World Class Scholars aims to change the world for young people as they not only learn new skills but more importantly, they learn about new people and cultures,” said Phil Noble, Founder of World Class Scholars.  “We can only solve the difficult problems of climate change, sustainability, tolerance and so many other global issues when young people understand that these problems are common problems for everyone.”

The future belongs to everyone – and with World Class Scholars and Expo 2020, everyone can join and work together to create a better future. Every school, every company, every government, every NGO, and every person has an important role to play.
