Dubai, UAE: The aerospace industry is at an exciting point as new technologies open opportunities for industrial changes that can be translated into tangible cost savings and growth. When the Dubai Airshow returns to DWC, Dubai Airshow Site from 17 – 21 November, leading aerospace companies will use the platform to launch and exhibit their latest innovations to the market.

Many of the 1300 exhibitors at the event will travel from all corners of the world, demonstrating the global appeal of the Dubai Airshow. Among them will be S&K Technologies from the USA and Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence from Italy, both exhibiting for the first time this year. Returning industry giants will be demonstrating their own advances in technologies across the entire aerospace industry, including Rolls Royce, Boeing and Lockheed Martin.

Rolls Royce plan to use their presence at the Dubai Airshow to highlight progress toward its IntelligentEngine vision, which, according to John Kelly, SVP Middle East, Africa & Central Asia, “Is moving at pace toward a future where our engines are increasingly connected, contextually aware and comprehending, and as a result, more intelligent.” He continues, “We will proudly showcase our engine technologies, and truly demonstrate the Power of Trent, alongside the technologies that are part of the IntelligentEngine vision, which we see as opening new opportunities to pioneer the way we provide power to customers.”

Bernard Dunn, President of Boeing Middle East, North Africa and Turkey, says “Every country in this region has strong visions dedicated to diversifying their economies, developing their workforce, protecting their citizens, improving infrastructure and more. Aerospace will continue to play an important role in the region’s growth story.”  He adds, “The Dubai Airshow is a fantastic platform for us and others in the industry to connect with our customers and showcase the latest technologies, platforms and services.”

Global Air Traffic Management (GATM) taking place within the Dubai Airshow, will present a comprehensive and interactive discussion on air traffic control in the UAE, the GCC and globally. CAAs, ANSPs, Airlines, Airports and ATM suppliers will come together to learn more about how technology can be applied to face the increasing challenge of crowded skies.

“Emerging technologies are altering the way in which we approach issues in air traffic management,” states Attila Simon, Director of Business Development at HungaroControl. John McKenzie, Regional Director - MENA, Airways New Zealand, adds “The Middle East is widely regarded as the world’s most ambitious aviation region.”

The third instalment of Cargo Connect will return to the Dubai Airshow bringing together the cargo and logistics supply chain sector to discuss the latest trends and transportation solutions. The one day conference will focus on the future of trade mobility, with panels focusing on digital cargo; e-commerce; operations and automation and the uberisation of cargo, among others.

The Dubai Airshow will also feature a focus on the space sector, with an exhibition area and two dedicated conferences produced in collaboration with the UAE Space Agency: Women in Space and Tech Talks. Bringing together major decision-makers from space agencies and the commercial industry these two conferences will facilitate unmatched opportunities to discuss space developments within the wider aerospace setting.

Keynote speakers include Jean- Yves Le Gall, President, Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales (CNES); Arfan Chaudhry, Head of International Policy, UK Space Agency; Dr. Eng. Mohammed Nasser Al Ahbabi, Director General of the UAE Space Agency and Apollo 15 Command Module Pilot Col. Al Worden, USAF-Ret, among others.

“The technological advancements in many sectors of the aerospace industry are incredible,” said Michele van Akelijen, Managing Director of organisers Tarsus F&E LLC Middle East. “The advancements and opportunities are many faceted and most are interdependent for the full benefits to be felt. The Dubai Airshow brings them all together for one week in the presence of industry leaders, truly connecting all aspects of the aerospace industry.”
