Dubai, UAE: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has organised its annual ceremony to honour its distinguished consultants and contractors in recognition of the efforts of its partners in accomplishing the many successes and achievements in its initiatives and projects. The event was attended by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, as well as DEWA’s Executive Vice Presidents and Vice Presidents, and representatives of the consultants and contractors who contributed to DEWA’s global achievements during last year.
“It gives me great pleasure to honour our contractors and consultants who have partnered with us to contribute to our achievements, which has raised the UAE’s competitiveness on the world’s stage. This supports the vision of the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to encourage cooperation and integration between the public and private sectors for the benefit of all. Successful partnerships do not aim for individual accomplishments, but seek to achieve collective successes instead that promote the happiness of individuals and society as a whole. This can only be achieved through a stimulating environment that encourages such cooperation and the determination to succeed through collaboration and joint work,” said Al Tayer in his keynote speech.
“The eight principles of governance in Dubai, announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, state that Dubai extends a hand of friendship to all those who hold good intentions towards Dubai and the UAE, and that the Emirate is a business-friendly global hub that focuses on creating economic opportunities. It also states that Dubai society is a disciplined society, committed to its promises, timelines and covenants. Our society is respectful and orderly, based on tolerance and openness. These principles govern the relationship between Dubai Electricity & Water Authority and our partners from the private sector in line with its vision to become a sustainable innovative leading utility. We are committed to building strong relations and establish strategic partnerships with local, regional, and international governmental and private organisations and companies. DEWA provides huge and equal investment opportunities for all according to the highest standards of transparency within robust strategic relations. We believe in the importance of these successful partnerships in DEWA’s many achievements and successes, positioning it among the most successful organisations worldwide, and surpassing major utilities in Europe and the USA,” added Al Tayer.
“I’d like to mention one of the most important successes that contractors and consultants have played a role in. This is that the UAE, represented by DEWA, has been ranked first worldwide in all Getting Electricity indicators for the second consecutive year, with scores of 100%. These have been recorded by the World Bank’s Doing Business 2019 Report, which measures the ease of doing business in 190 economies around the world. DEWA’s achievement also contributed to improving the UAE’s overall global ranking from 21st place last year to 11th this year, in collaboration with government authorities and organisations. The contributions, feedback, and suggestions from our partners were critical to the launch and development of the Al Namoos service in December 2014 to streamline and accelerate connections to electricity services, according to the best international standards and practices. We continuously work to enhance this service to meet your requirements and exceed customers’ expectations, ensuring their happiness. This also consolidates Dubai’s pioneering global role in the ease of doing businesses. We currently provide customers with electricity connections of up to 150 kilowatts, within seven days in just one step. Recently, DEWA waived the new connection charges for industrial and commercial customers for loads of up to 150 kilowatts. For residential customers, no advance connection charges are required. They are included in the first consumption bill after power connection,” noted Al Tayer.
