Saudi Haramain train transports 116,000 passengers during Ramadan

JEDDAH — The Haramain High Speed Train transported 116,000 passengers between Makkah, Madinah, King Abdullah Economic City of Rabigh and Jeddah during the holy month of Ramadan.

There has been a huge increase in the number of passengers, including Saudis and expatriates in addition to a large number of Umrah pilgrims from outside the Kingdom, according to Haramain Train Project sources.

The train has achieved a punctuality rate of 94 percent in their arrival and departure timings.

Speaking to Okaz/Saudi Gazette, a Haramain Train Project official announced the launch of new double train service for the month of June to meet the increasing demand.

The service will start from Wednesday. Two trains will be operated at the same time on five days – Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from Makkah to Madinah via Jeddah and Rabigh.

The train timings will be at 8 a.m., 12 p.m., 3.15 p.m., 6.15 p.m., and 8 p.m. for departure from Makkah as well from Madinah.
