Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The UAE’s energy ministry is not planning to choose the increase of water and electricity tariffs as a means to reduce consumption, minister Suhail Mohammed Faraj Al Mazroui said.

The ministry is drafting a law allowing for the installation of solar panels at the roofs of buildings in the UAE in a bid to maximise the dependency on solar energy, Al Mazroui added, according to Al-Bayan newspaper.

The minister added that the said law would be presented to the UAE Cabinet soon.

As for the Emiratisation in the energy sector, Al Mazroui noted that around 66% of workers in the energy sector are UAE nationals.
