The Sharjah FDI Office (Invest in Sharjah), the investment promotion agency of Sharjah, has focused on increased business opportunities with 80 industry experts and businesses from 20 European countries during its participation in the 'Going Global' event which concluded recently in London.

The annual event is one of Europe's biggest platforms for businesses and suppliers looking to expand internationally, export or set up overseas operations to a number of global markets such as Africa, Asia, Pacific, Mena, Eastern Europe and Asean countries.

During a seminar titled 'Sharjah: Your Gateway to the Middle East' at the 'Foreign Direct Investment Expo', which took place on the sidelines of 'Going Global', Mohamed Juma Al Musharrkh, CEO of Invest in Sharjah, outlined how the emirate has developed its economic infrastructure to meet the requirements of British and European outbound investment.

Al Musharrkh highlighted how Sharjah's infrastructure and business-friendly climate transformed it into a business hub, a preferred investment destination in the Mena and home to major European businesses. He added that businesses take advantage of Sharjah's business climate and strategic location to expand to new markets in the region.

He highlighted Invest in Sharjah's efforts to build partnerships and joint ventures with UK and EU markets to facilitate new investments and improve the viability of mega projects and SMEs across emerging sectors.

The key emerging sectors in focus by Invest in Sharjah are tourism, healthcare, environment, logistics and trade. The agency addressed the technical and financial support it will provide to 60 suppliers participating at the event.
