Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) has announced that it has connected 10,650 refrigeration tonnes (RT) capacity of cooling service to the Royal Atlantis Resort and Residences, at Palm Jumeirah.

This is for the new expansion phase of the hotel as part of Dubai's preparation for Expo 2020, and the project was connected with the district cooling service in May, said a statement from Empower.

A leading district cooling services provider, Empower said 85 per cent of the renovation and expansion project work at the Dubai resort has been completed.

CEO Ahmad Bin Shafar said: "The district cooling services have become an essential element for major real estate projects, locally and internationally, due to their unique features and benefits."

"Additionally, district cooling systems are environmentally friendly and contribute to enhancing energy efficiency and saving energy, as they use 50 per cent less energy compared to conventional cooling systems," he added.
