Organized by OITE Trade Fairs and supported by ITA, the e.oman pavilion concluded today its activities at the 28th edition of COMEX2018 exhibition that focused on ICT industry under the theme “New Horizon”. 140 Government and private entities participated under the umbrella of e.oman pavilion and the business section while the shoppers section will continue until 28th April. Three GCC countries participated to display their eServices, which are KSA, Qatar and Bahrain.

COMEX exhibition activities included launching the updated website for Muscat Municipality that will offer more online services for users. During the three days, 42 workshops were conducted on many areas such as social media strategic planning and virtual identity. 9 Specialized workshops in Majlis com highlighted topics including digital transformation, programming, operating systems, smart cities and sound engineering.

COMEX2018 Smart Cities and Industry 4.0 summit, entitled “AI and IoT for advancing the National Economy,” discussed in its second day many topics related to artificial intelligence, the internet of things, cognitive cities, PPP business, cyber security, Li-Fi, cloud computing and smart building. Also, it covered smart cities initiatives in Oman represented in Mwasalat’s new smart technology initiative that aims to enhance the public transportation services.

Amongst the events that took place at COMEX exhibition 2018 is a signing agreement between

Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), represented by Dr. Rahma Al-Mahrooqi, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor

For Postgraduate Studies and Research, and ITA’s Sas Center for Mobile Apps Development, represented by Dr. Salim Al Ruzaiqi, Chief Executive Officer.

The agreement is a research contract for the development of an iPad application for SQU Test and

Survey Management System (TSMS) by using native platform Swift-3 for the development. The app

will be completely developed By Omani Students, who undergo intensive, specialized training in mobile applications development under the guidance of some of the best and highly experienced technical experts & consultants in the industry (From HCL Technologies). The main objective of this agreement is to complete a test management and survey system, which includes creating and managing the test or survey by the administrator and allowing Students to attempt the test or survey.

The final day witnessed signing other two agreements between Al Raffd Fund and ITA to integrate all the government eServices with Sanad Services Centers and the second one with Haya Water to provide eServices through Sanad Service Centers.

On the closing day of e.oman pavilion participation, the ITA has honored the participant of e.oman pavilion including GCC countries, government entities, SMEs, ICT initiatives, speakers of the technical workshops and sessions and media organizations.
