Ten government firms and 80 private sector companies, alongside international firms, are taking part in ICT exposition Comex 2021 inaugurated yesterday (May 30) in Muscat, Oman.

Launched by the Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, the exhibition is being held under the logo of “Digital Transformation and Concerted Espousal of Artificial Intelligence Future”, reported Oman News Agency (ONA).

This virtual chapter of the exhibition, which lasts till 8 June, sheds light on advancements in ICT worldwide and showcases new initiatives and government electronic services in the Sultanate.

Besides the main show, the activities include an ICT excellence award ceremony and a six-day conference, with 16 discussion sessions focusing on sectors that embraced the digital revolution most, which are the sectors of health, tourism, banking, finance, mining and education. The agenda also includes workshops and specialized lectures, as well as agreements and memoranda of understanding inked on the sidelines of the event.

The minister said that Comex 2021 assumes significance from its perspective of highlighting government electronic services and encouraging digital transformation in different fields and sectors. A key motive is to exchange expertise and review experiences of leading companies in this domain of renewed technologies and innovations.

The minister pointed out that Comex 2021 figures as the biggest ICT specialized event in the Sultanate and generates massive reaction in public and private establishments.

Every year the extravaganza focuses on a specific theme in the ICT sector. Recently, the organizing firm focused on artificial intelligence and the role of digital transformation in facilitating human life.

On the sidelines of the event, the participants marked World Communications Day. The speech of the Secretary-General of International Communications Union was presented and a filmed initiative of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority was screened.
