Riyadh –   France-based Alstom has started the initial dynamic tests for Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh metro megaproject.

"This test run is a significant milestone for Alstom and for the project," Didier Pfleger, senior vice president for Alstom's Middle East and Africa operation, commented.

The French train maker and manufacturing group tested line 4, on which the FAST consortium is working, according to Construction Week.

The initial test covers the railway system's performance in terms of power supply and signaling systems, using trains that have already been delivered for the project, the French transport system provider said in a statement.

Riyadh Metro’s Metropolis-based train features two cars per set, and spans 36 metres. Each train includes first, family, and single class compartments.

It is worth noting that Riyadh Metro extends for six lines for 176 kilometres, and features 85 metro stations.
