As part of its participation in GITEX Technology Week 2017,

Dubai: As part of its efforts to become a "Paperless Ministry" in line with Government plans to digitize services and processes, the Ministry of Finance (MoF), presented its Electronic Archiving System (EAS), which includes document archiving and content management at GITEX 2017. The Electronic Archiving System adheres to standards from global benchmarking and the UAE National Archive.

MoF has archived nearly 5 million documents of various sizes and types, some of which date back to 1971. This guarantees the speed and accuracy of research among millions of documents, and increases the opportunity of obtaining results in a few seconds while preserving valuable documents and images, which in turn reduces the damage that would otherwise be caused by manual use. The system also raises the level of confidentiality in the circulation of documents, showing specific parts of the document while hiding others, as well as increases the size of the attachments in systems that have been linked to the electronic archive by more than 1000%.

HE Mariam Mohammed Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for the Management of Financial Resources, stressed the Ministry's keenness to be the first to apply best practices to enhance the efficiency of digital and electronic services offered. "The implementation of Electronic Archiving and Content Management System has positive advantages at multiple levels such as improving the efficiency of information and document management, ensuring easy and fast access, and speeding up the accuracy of decision making at various levels as well as ensuring the confidentiality of documents.”

HE Al Amiri added: "We also can’t disregard the positive impact of this system on the environment by reducing the use, circulation and printing of paper, and reducing the frequency of document circulation in more than one place, which in turn saves storage space and increases the efficiency of systems. The Electronic Archiving System is part of the Ministry's contribution to government efforts to implement the principles of sustainable development and environmental protection."

The Ministry of Finance is keen to be active every year in GITEX Technology Week by showcasing its achievements and projects in areas of technology and information security. GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK is one of the most important ICT exhibitions in the Middle East and Africa. This year's edition of the exhibition will be held under the theme of "Re-imagining reality: Discover, transform, and innovate" and witnessed the participation of local, regional and global companies and institutions in the technical sector from both private and public sectors.
