FUJAIRAH- The General Civil Aviation Authority, GCAA, on Sunday launched the annual "Future Aviator" Youth Week in its fourth edition for the first time in Fujairah. The programme received more than 100 students from male and female schools from 13 to 15 years old, with the participation of 30 volunteers from the emirate.

The 5-day event, which is organised by the Higher Colleges of Technology in Fujairah, aims to provide students with opportunities to meet with faculty members and discuss their interests in higher education. The workshops designed to engage students through a specialised interactive programme to introduce the aviation sector and employment opportunities, and its importance in increasing the country's GDP, and encouraging citizens to choose employment in the aviation industry.

The workshops focus on the development of technical skills and work skills in science, technology and aviation, so students can learn about basic components, such as sensors and engines and explore how machines work on the ground. They also learn about team work and problem solving. Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, GCAA Director-General, said, "The authority seeks to support Emiratisation in the national aviation sector by encouraging children and young people to love technology and aviation. The authority aspires to develop the sector by investing in UAE youth and instilling passion in the science, technology and innovation in the state, It also invests in UAE nationals and youth and urges them to join the aviation sector through a variety of programmes aimed at educating young people in this key sector." For her part, Fatima Al Marzouqi, Head of Education and Training in the Aviation Industry, Clean Energy and Information and Communication Technology at Mubadala Investments, said, "Mubadala Investments seeks to provide sponsorship for events aimed at improving the learning level of school students by supporting such initiatives that positively reflect the development of their scientific capabilities." The week long programme includes a number of activities such as lectures and workshops related to the civil aviation sector and a number of competitions, activities, and field visits to the most important bodies in the civil aviation sector in Fujairah, such as Fujairah International Airport.

The GCAA organised camp programme sponsors include Mubadala Investments, Airbus, Etihad Aviation Group , Emirates Airline, Fujairah Aviation Academy, Fujairah Airports, Higher Colleges of Technology for Women in Fujairah, and the Applied Technology Institute and Technical Secondary School, through providing recreational and educational facilities and programmes within the camp activities.
