• The Pajero convoys explored Wahiba Sands in a fun filled adventure
  • Three more trips to be organised as part of the 16th Season of Team Pajero Desert Adventure in December, January, and February respectively

Muscat: General Automotive Company (GAC), the official distributors for Mitsubishi in Oman, has successfully completed the first of a total four planned trips of its annual desert excursion, the ‘Team Pajero Desert Adventure’. The first trip took place on November 9 and 10, which saw 215 people in 43 Mitsubishi Pajeros drive into desert for a weekend of fun and adventure. Each of these trips, aims to give Pajero owners and enthusiasts a taste of a true desert adventure in the vehicle best suited to handle the challenge – the Mitsubishi Pajero.

Driven by popular demand, the Team Pajero Desert Adventure has been split into four separate events for this year; with the first trip recently launched and will be followed by the three trips later. The second trip is scheduled for December 14 and 15, and the third trip is scheduled for January 11 and 12, 2019. The 16th season ends with the fourth trip on February 15 and 16, 2019. All Mitsubishi Pajero owners in the Sultanate are invited to register for the upcoming trips at the Mitsubishi Showroom in Athaiba.

Commenting on the adventure, Manoj Ranade, the GM of General Automotive Company said, “For years, GAC has been organising its desert excursion known as the Team Pajero Desert Adventure, an event that is highly sought after by our Pajero customers. This year, GAC is looking forward to offering the unique event, which has now become an integral part of Pajero ownership in Oman, to its customers for the 16th time. The number of available slots are usually taken up quite fast, especially given that it provides our customers a deeper insight into the true off-road potential of their vehicles. More importantly however, these trips help strengthen the relationship we have with customers, allowing us to gain a better understanding of their vehicle ownership experience.”

The event, which began at the Mitsubishi Showroom on the morning of November 9, saw the participation of 215 Mitsubishi customers in 43 Pajeros, set off towards the desert. They were guided by 16 GAC staff members in 9 Marshall Vehicles on a predefined course as they headed to the Al Raha Camp at the Wahiba Sands.

Once at the Al Raha Camp, the convoy of Pajero vehicles were escorted by Marshalls and provided with specialised desert driving training. The drivers were then taken on a dune bashing session, after which the group is taken atop a dune overlooking the camp to witness the stunning sunset. Once back at the camp a large number of activities and entertainment was prepared for the families to enjoy. The following morning, Camel riding sessions and dune bikes were provided for the customers to use at their discretion. The convoy left the camp and returned to the Azaiba showroom shortly after.

“This trip marks the beginning of the 16th season of Team Pajero Desert Adventure; with three more trips planned next December, January and February respectively. However, with the limited spaces running out quick, we encourage any Pajero owner still wishing to take part to register with us at the earliest,” added Manoj.
