Cairo, Egypt - talabat, the region’s leading technology platform in online food and grocery delivery, has participated in the 9th edition of RiseUp Summit, which was held at the pyramids from November 25 to 27.
RiseUp is the MENA region's largest innovation and entrepreneurship summit, and this year it brought together over 150 startups, 150 speakers, and 50 workshops, over the course of three days under the theme #TimelessInnovation.
Talabat not only took RiseUp by storm with it’s booth, but also with it’s intensive presence that saw 5 of the company’s executives engage with other players in the ecosystem through panels, keynote speeches and workshops. Executives were spotted on two out of the three stages in the Summit talking about topics ranging from mobility, product personalization and making a career move in the tech industry.

Yi-Wei Ang, Chief Product Officer at talabat, kick-started talabat’s participation on November 26 with his keynote speech on “Customer Obsessed Product Development”; Tony Fadel, Senior Product Manager at talabat, also instructed a workshop on “How to Build your Product Personalization Strategy”; and Michel Aguib, Director of Engineering at talabat, gave a workshop on “Career Decisions or How to Make a Move in the Tech Industry”.
On November 27, Khaled Rashad, Chief Technology Officer at talabat, gave a keynote speech on “The Talent Challenges of Scaling Up a Tech Company” in which he said: “We firmly believe that Egypt has great talent and potential - that is why we chose it to build our second tech and product hub in the region. Egyptian engineers not only have the required talent and knowledge, but also the passion and right mindset, which are crucial in an industry as agile and disruptive as tech.”
Talabat concluded its participation in the Summit by Hadeer Shalaby, Manager Director of talabat Egypt, taking part in a panel discussion on "The World of MAAS - Mobility as a Service", alongside key market players such as Trella, Shotl, Elmenus, Careem and Swvl. During which she emphasized the importance of technology in increasing the efficiency of delivery services and solidifying rider compliance for an enhanced customer experience.
