UAE - Two new mosques were inaugurated in Sharjah on Saturday by the emirate’s Department of Islamic Affairs.

According to a tweet from the department, the new Al Sakina Mosque and Tulayha Bin Khuwaylid Mosque can collectively accommodate around 960 worshippers.

Located in Sharjah’s Al Rahmaniyah 4 area, the Al Sakina Mosque can accommodate 900 worshippers, with 75 spaces reserved for women. It is built over 2,267.6 sqm in the modern Islamic architectural style and features a circular dome and 35.15-metre minaret. Apart from washroom and ablution facilities, it also has housing for the mosque’s imam.

The Tulayha Bin Khuwaylid Mosque is located in the agricultural area of Falah and can accommodate 60 worshippers. Built over 240 sqm of land, the mosque is also designed in the modern Islamic style and has a circular dome, with its minaret being 10.5 meters tall. The mosque also has toilets and ablution facilities as well as housing for the mosque’s imam.
