KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait's health ministry on Tuesday recorded 1,962 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, the highest daily count since the start of the pandemic, the Kuwait News Agency reported citing a statement from the country's health ministry.

According to the health ministry, 11 more people succumbed to the deadly virus over the past 24 hours.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 342,929 and virus-related fatalities to 1,888.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,604 more patients have recovered from COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, pushing the total number of recoveries in the country to 322,897.

According to the ministry’s statement, there are currently 18,144 active cases in the country out of which 238 are receiving treatment in intensive care units.

A total of 13,536 swab tests were conducted over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of COVID-19 examinations in the country to 2.85 million, the statement added.

In the statement, the ministry urged citizens and expatriates alike that abiding by health precautions, mainly, following social distancing rules, is the only way to halt the spread of the virus.
