DXB Entertainments (DXBE), the operator behind Dubai Parks and Resorts, will extend the temporary suspension of its theme park operations until 23 September 2020.

The rapid spread of Covid-19, which has infected more than 10 million people worldwide, had pushed many theme parks around the world to shut down operations in the last couple of months, as governments urged residents to stay indoors or observe social distancing.

DXBE will focus in the interim on the roll-out of the enhancement program and the completion of maintenance works.

The enhancement program will introduce twelve new rides to Dubai Parks and Resorts with the installation of eight rides to be completed by Q3 2020 and the remaining four rides in Q4 2020, DXBE said.

“As Dubai is getting ready to welcome back tourists with the opening of the leisure and entertainment sector, we are eager to welcome back our guests with new rides and experiences for the entire family,” Mohamed Almulla, Managing Director and CEO, DXB Entertainments PJSC said.

“Summer period has historically been the low season for visitation to the theme parks. We are therefore utilizing this period to complete the maintenance works and focus on the enhancement program for MOTIONGATE Dubai and Bollywood Parks Dubai,” Almulla said.

DXBE also announced earlier this year that it has reached a deal with banks to defer a significant proportion of the interest on the 4.2 billion UAE dirham syndicated loan facility over the next 15 months. (Read more here)
