MANAMA: Three times more rain than normal fell on Bahrain last month, according to data released yesterday.

While there was just 12.9mm of rain at Bahrain International Airport in November, that was still a lot more than the 3.8mm average for the month.

However, it was a long way short of Bahrain’s wettest November, which occurred in 1940 – when there was a total of 146.8mm of rainfall.

Last month was also warmer than normal, with temperatures reaching 34.1C at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) and 31.8C at the airport on November 5.

“The mean temperature of the month was 25.4C, which is 1.1C above the long-term normal for November – and this goes on record as the seventh highest mean monthly temperature for November since 1902,” said the Meteorological Directorate in a statement.

“The highest mean temperature recorded in Bahrain for November was 26.1C in 1954.”
