Commuters in Riyadh and Jeddah will have a new public transport service starting Tuesday, according to an announcement by the higher committee on public transport.

The fare has been fixed at SR3 per trip.

Drivers who were earlier driving the ubiquitous haflas (mini-buses) on the Khat Al-Balad (downtown route) have been asked to either work with the Saudi Public Transport Company (Saptco) on monthly salaries or obtain loans from the Social Development Bank to start their own business.
