ArabFinance: Egypt, Ethiopia, and Sudan will continue negotiating over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) until August 28th, according to a Cabinet’s official statement.

Irrigation ministers from the three countries held the second African Union-sponsored meeting on August 18th to discuss proposals on filling and operating the dam and how to proceed with the ongoing talks.

The tripartite negotiations resumed earlier this week after a seven-day suspension.

The meeting was attended by observers from the European Union, the US, and the African Union Commission.

Acting Sudanese Foreign Minister Omar Ismail Gamardin said a final draft agreement is in the works, according to Voice of America.

He added, “We are expecting consultants from the African Union to help the three countries in drafting the agreement.”
