Riyadh – Mubasher: Integrated Dawiyat for Telecom and Information Technology (Dawiyat Telecom), a fully owned subsidiary of the Saudi Electric Company (SEC), has completed the first phase of fibre optic network deployment in Sudair and Jeddah’s Second industrial cities, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The move comes along with the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program (NIDLP)’s ICT infrastructure for the industrial cities that aims at developing the digital infrastructure, which will enable modern technologies such as 5G and Internet of Things (IoT).

The first phase comprised five cities are Dammam Second Industrial City, Jeddah Second Industrial City, Jeddah Third Industrial City, Sudair Industrial City, and Kharj Industrial City, with a total area of ??500 million square metres.

The Saudi-based company is targeting 39 cities in the coming period, SPA added.

Earlier in January, NIDLP and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) inked an agreement with Dawiyat Telecom along with other telecom companies to deploy the ICT infrastructure in industrial cities across the kingdom.

However, the second phase of the project will deploy fibre optic networks in the other three industrial cities is currently being carried out.
