Riyadh – India’s CG Power and Industrial Solutions, part of New Delhi-based Avantha Group Company, has won a SAR 52.4 million ($14 million) contract to design and build a wind farm in Saudi Arabia, ConstructionWeek reported.
The new high-voltage substation will connect Saudi Arabia’s national electricity transmission grid to Dumat Al Jandal wind farm, which is being developed by a consortium of EDF Renewables and UAE’s Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar).
The contract included a 20-year active output management 4000 (AOM 4000) service agreement for the operation and maintenance of the wind park.
CG Power and Industrial Solutions, formerly known as Crompton Greaves, noted that the contract was awarded to its Mechelen-based division, CG Holdings Belgium NV Systems.
It is worth mentioning that Dumat Al Jandal has an installed capacity of 400 megawatts, and it's considered Saudi Arabia’s first large scale onshore wind farm and also the largest so far in the Middle East.
