BAC Jet Fuel Company (BJFCO) said it has achieved a key construction safety milestone by clocking over one million safe man-hours without lost time injuries (LTI) at its fuel farm complex site.

A joint venture between Oil and Gas Holding Company (nogaholding) and Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), the BJFCO recently held a ceremony to celebrate the milestone.

During the event, BJFCO Chairman Engineer Abdul Majeed Al Qassab presented Amana Pipeline Construction Project Director Maher Al Dik with a certificate of appreciation. Also in attendance were representatives from the project’s subcontractor, Mesmak and consultant, Mott MacDonald.

The strategic project, which is an important component of the Airport Modernisation Programme (AMP), will reinforce Bahrain’s position as a centre of aviation fuel services in the GCC region and contribute to the national economy in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, said a statement from BJFCO.

Housing three aviation fuel tanks with a capacity of 10,000 cu m each, the project covers 77,000 sq m area in addition to its dedicated operational buildings.

As the number of airlines operating out of BIA continues to grow, it will play a vital role by providing additional aviation fuel to support the increased activity, the statement added.

On the key achievement, Al Qassab said: "This achievement is a momentous milestone for Bahrain International Airport Fuel Farm Complex and reflects how the entire team has embraced our culture of operational excellence."

"Reaching one million safe man-hours is an international benchmark for safe work performance and demonstrates the effectiveness of our safety programme, especially considering the large-scale capacity and headcount ramp-up we experienced in the past year," noted Al Qassab.

"This achievement would not have been possible without the hard work, commitment, and dedication of everyone involved in the project. Our people are our most important asset and their safety remains our top priority," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
