Dubai, United Arab Emirates: In line with the aspirations of the city of Dubai and in line with an aim to provide the population and visitors of Dubai the highest quality of specialized access health care in an ever-evolving digital environment, DHA recently discussed its priorities until 2071.
His Excellency Humaid Al Qutami, Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority headed that meeting that took place on the sidelines of GITEX 2020.
The strategy department has undertaken extensive stakeholder engagement, has undergone present and future analysis and an in-depth research was recently conducted wherein 1000 community members in Dubai were provided a detailed questionnaire on health and wellbeing and the results were tabulated to further understand the current situation, challenges and opportunities.
The strategy has 4 main axes and 10 strategic priorities for the future. The axes include the first-five years for quick wins, the next 15 years to focus on qualitative developments and shifts in the health sector and defining the future health trends over the next 50 years.
Al Qutami expressed his thanks and gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces; Their Highnesses the Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates.
Humaid Al Qutami thanked H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, for supporting Dubai's healthcare sector. Al Qutami also thanked H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, DHA President, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and UAE Minister of Finance, for guiding the development and transformation of Dubai's medical sector.
He said in line with the vision of the wise leadership of the UAE, the Authority is keen to further transform and develop the health sector to provide the highest quality of accessible and specialized care to community members and visitors alike and to further develop a highly efficient and dynamic health sector.
Fatima Abbas, the CEO of Strategy and Corporate Development said that the DHA has successfully implemented several initiatives from the existing 2016-2021 Dubai Health Strategy and has implemented 15 programmes and 125 initiatives.
Dr. Younis Kazim, CEO of the Dubai Healthcare Corporation discussed the importance of developing innovative health care models to promote and enhance healthy lifestyle patterns, epidemiological monitoring systems and infectious disease control.
He emphasized on the expansion of implementing modern and smart technologies to enhance health service delivery and patient convenience.
He also emphasized on sustainability, the quality of medical services, the importance of investing in human competencies and attracting more medical expertise to the authority.
Dr. Farida Al Khaja, CEO of Clinical Support Services and Nursing Sector highlighted the authority's continuous efforts to update and develop the important focal specialties in hospitals and to provide them with more artificial intelligence systems and robots including in the field of radiology, laboratories, pharmacies, genetics laboratories.
She also disused the importance of continuous professional development.
Dr. Manal Taryam is CEO of the Primary Healthcare (PHC) Sector at Dubai Health Authority spoke about the centrality of healthcare, the overall medical services developed and the value and importance of data monitoring and analysis to enhance future support planning and evidence-based decision-making.
She also spoke about the importance of enhancing early detection of diseases, enhancing oncology services and expanding the services of Doctor For Every Citizen, which has seen a an exponential growth.
So far, more than 60,000 medical consultations have been provided and it is expected to reach 80,000 by the end of the year.
Dr. Ahmed Ibrahim Bin Kalban, CEO of Hospital Services Sector at the DHA, presented a future picture of what the centers will look like and the volume of services provided by specialized centers annually.
Dr. Marwan Al Mulla, CEO of Health Regulation Sector also outlined what the Authority has achieved in the areas of health regulation, legislation, systems and automation, in order to achieve a more robust and effective health regulation.
Dr. Sarah Al Dalal on behalf of Saleh Al Hashimi, CEO of Dubai Health Insurance Corporation, confirmed the health insurance system's progress in developing the health insurance system by focusing on the financial sustainability of Dubai's health system.
On behalf of Maisa Al Bustani, Director of the Department of Public Health;
Dr. Nahed Monsef, Director of Strategy & Governance Department at DHA explained three important pathways in this aspect: combating infectious diseases through effective prevention, responding to crises and disasters, and creating a distinct global system for research and monitoring of infectious diseases and monitoring them through artificial intelligence systems.
Dr Muna Tahlak, CEO of Latifa Hospital for Women and Children (on behalf of all The Authority's hospitals), spoke about the highlights of The Future Hospital and what the Authority has accomplished on its way to reaching a modern and advanced model of the hospital. She also spoke about the importance of investment, cost reduction, innovation in treatment and digital teletherapeutic services.
Dr. Mohammad Al Redha, Director of Project Management Office, Health Informatics & Smart Health at DHA said the projects completed by the Authority, especially projects like Salama; represent a strong push towards the future. He discussed the importance of the Dubai Future Accelerators Programme and its role in introducing cutting-edge technology such as 3D printing across the point-of-care at DHA hospitals.
Dr. Wadeia Mohammad Sharief, Medical Education and Research Department addressed the topics of training, professional development, continuing medical education and rehabilitation, and all the initiatives implemented by the Authority in order to increase the efficiency of its national medical, technical and administrative cadres.
