Dubai, UAE: His Excellency Butti Saeed Al Ghandi, Second Vice-Chairman of Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) officially opened the 5th edition of Middle East Cleaning Technology Week 2019, a three-day event which will bring together 50 exhibitors from 15 countries.

The event runs from 15-17 October at Dubai World Trade Centre and will feature the Gulf Laundrex presented by Texcare Conference, Facility Management Conference, Cleaning Conference, the Clean Middle East Expo and the Gulf Car Wash Car Care Expo.

Joining HE Al Ghandi were top-level officials from DWTC and representatives from Messe Frankfurt Middle East, the show’s organisers. Abhishek Dalal, Project Manager of Messe Frankfurt Middle East led the VIP tour which visited key exhibitors such as Diversey, Intercare, Hygienetech, AKC and Nilfisk.

“With the emergence of new technology that’s shaping the cleaning industry, the impact will be felt by companies working across a range of sectors, from hospitality and facilities management to tech firms, government agencies and utilities providers,” said Dalal.

“Our aim is to level the playing field by providing a platform where knowledge can be shared. We believe delegates and visitors of the show will walk away with a better understanding of the future of their industry.”

Middle East Cleaning Technology Week hosts 50 exhibitors from 15 countries. The Clean Middle East Expo will highlight innovations in cleaning and hygiene practices, while Gulf Car Wash Car Care Expo will present car wash and maintenance services at the Middle East’s only dedicated platform for the industry.

In the free-to-attend one-day conferences, delegates can digest expert presentations and panel discussions on automisation and digitalisation in laundry, the future of textiles, best practices for the industry and the region’s growing laundry demands.

Experts from companies such as Diversey, Dubai Airports, Ejadah, Emaar, Marriott Hotels and Mastercard will gather to share their insights on how different segments of the cleaning industry are impacted by technology and developments in operations.

Nikolaos Pastras, an application expert in fabric care at Diversey, who will speak at Gulf Laundrex on 17 October, believes many of the changes seen by the cleaning industry are driven by a need to be more eco-conscious.

“Chemical technology is constantly making efforts to reduce its environmental footprint,” said Pastras. “This is valid for laundry and dry-cleaning products as well. Phosphate-free, NTA-free and eco-labelled products are part of the industry’s movement away from PERC.

“Additionally, the increased demand for energy and water savings has resulted in new chemical ranges and wash processes that can perform well with minimal utility requirements. Even machine suppliers are working towards it, by introducing new washing equipment that can adjust water consumption according to linen weight.”
