Dubai: In line with the UAE’s Year of Tolerance, Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (AMAF) has made significant progress in expanding its innovative endowment contributions following the inclusion of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Centre for Endowment Consultancy (MBRGCEC) under the Foundation’s umbrella. This expansion will allow a larger number of companies, individuals and economic sectors to contribute and support innovative endowment as part of the AMAF’s ‘Endowment for All’ strategy.

The Education Endowment Fund that was launched by AMAF’s MBRGCEC has to date received contributions worth AED8,500,000 from companies and individuals that seek to support education and students. Contributors to this fund include Wasl Real Estate, Easa Al Gurg Charity Foundation, Al Waleed Real Estate, GEMS Education, Al Madina Pharmacy, and Gulf Drug.

His Excellency Ali Al Mutawa, Secretary General of AMAF, said: “Ever since MBRGCEC became a component of AMAF in 2019, it has broadened the scope of our innovative endowment efforts. We are now able to expand contributions to innovative endowment mandates, in line with the Endowment for All strategy and the Year of Tolerance, enabling more individuals and companies to donate and support our community priorities.”

For her part, Zainab Juma AlTamimi, Director of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Centre for Endowment Consultancy, said: “MBRGCEC provides a comprehensive offering of innovative endowment mandates that qualify contributing companies to receive the Dubai Endowment Sign in recognition of their efforts in supporting the community and meeting its needs in vital sectors such as healthcare, child empowerment, environmental conservation, culture, or education.”

These mandates cover segments such as the future, the youth, sciences, women and children, people of determination, and the environment.”

The innovative endowment concept adopted by both AMAF and MBRGCEC encourage endowment ideas that have a positive impact on the society and enhance social solidarity. Some of these ideas include an endowment table, a first-of-its-kind initiative at the Fulla Restaurant in Dubai’s Jumeirah area that will dedicate its revenues to support the education of orphans.

Other ideas include the innovative endowment offering provided by Zomato, a smart food-ordering and restaurant-booking application that allows users to make a simple and quick contribution through dedicating a percentage of their final bill amount when they order via the app to endowment.
