Dubai- UAE

MSc. Engineering Management programme (EngM) at the British University in Dubai (BUiD) has received accreditation from The American Society for Engineering Management (ASEM), which makes BUiD the first University in The UAE to receive such accreditation. Students graduating with a Master’s degree from an ASEM certified graduate programme are eligible for immediate instatement as a Certified Associate in Engineering Management (CAEM). This certification culminated a 5-years’ effort of a highly dedicated team of academics and administrators whose hard work insured this achievement.

Prof Bassam Abu Hijleh, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and IT commented on this achievement “the ASEM certification is testament of the industry relevance of the EngM programme's content as well as the teaching methodologies. This certification will boost our graduates’ career paths as well as assure employers of the value these graduates will add to their organisations.” Dr Alaa Ameer, Head of the EngM programme stated, “This certification from a global professional association will enhance both the programme’s stature and the graduates’ future development and progression.”

*ASEM is a global professional society dedicated to the promotion and advancement of the engineering and technical management profession. ASEM members cover a wide range of management areas in science and technology. In addition to engineering, these fields encompass manufacturing / operations management, the natural sciences and information technology including areas like computer science and information systems.

Programme’s certification is designed to provide recognition to those programmes that excel in offering education at the Master’s level that meet the rigorous standards of ASEM. The rigorous standards used by ASEM to certify graduate programmes in engineering management are built on the Engineering Management Body of Knowledge and represent the state-of-the-art of what engineering managers should know upon graduating with a Master’s degree in the field.

Getting the Certification represents outstanding achievement in quality and content by those programmes who achieve this distinction. BUiD offered its MSc. Engineering Management programme in 2014 to provide engineers with the managerial skills needed to progress in their career. The programme provides advanced analytical knowhow and skills in mathematical and statistical tools and techniques that are applicable to a wide range of engineering disciplines and applications.
