Sharjah:

A high-level Sharjah delegation led by the emirate’s Department of Government Relations (DGR) will be visiting  Barcelona, Spain, 11–14 March, 2019. The visit is aimed at enhancing mutual cooperation and explore joint action in education, healthcare, bilateral trade and investment, and socioeconomic development.

To be led by Sheikh Fahim Al Qasimi, Executive Chairman,  DGR, the delegation  will include HE Dr Abdulaziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH); HE Dr Saeed Musbah al Kaabi, Chairman of Sharjah Education Council (SEC); HE Dr Abdullah Bin Ali Muhayan, Chairman of the Sharjah Health Authority (SHA); and SHA Director, HE Dr Abdulaziz Al Muhairi.

The delegation will also feature HE Marwan bin Jassim Al Sarkal, Executive Chairman, Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq); HE Mohamed Juma Al Musharrkh, CEO, Sharjah FDI Office (Invest in Sharjah); and Ali Rashid Al Ketbi, International Relations Executive, DGR.

Commenting on the visit Sheikh Fahim Al Qasimi said: “DGR is dedicated to building close diplomatic ties with other nations based on meaningful collaboration and mutual interest, in line with the vison and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. Such meetings enable Sharjah’s state entities to build effective partnerships with their counterparts around the world by sharing their success stories, knowledge and expertise, and learn from best practices worldwide to fuel Sharjah’s integrated development process.”

“Our visit to Barcelona has been inspired by the plethora of commonalities shared by  Spain and our emirate. Spain is home to the second highest number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. On this visit, DGR will be keen on learning more about Barcelona’s leading expertise in education,  tourism, healthcare and information technology.”

The Department of Government Relations was established in 2014 under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council of and Ruler of Sharjah, to provide a window of cooperation to Sharjah's international partners.

As the centre of culture, education, and innovation in the UAE, the Emirate's international reach spans the globe. The department supports this outreach through representing Sharjah abroad, welcoming international delegations, and partnering with strategic cities that share Sharjah's core values: culture, education, and innovation.
