Abu Dhabi - The Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development (KFED) and the Abu Dhabi Council for Economic Development (ADCED) have joined the UAE delegation in its participation at the recently held Pitch@Palace Global workshop in London, with the presence of H.E. Abdulla Al Darmaki, CEO of Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development, Dr. Saif Al Shaali, Director, Economic Policy Planning Division of ADCED. The delegation also included Emirati winners of the Pitch@Palace GCC, Saif Al Darmaki and Abdullah Al Shamari, who represented the country in the finals of Pitch@Palace Global.

Winners of the competition’s editions from around the world competed in the final stage, which took place in London in the presence of Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, Founder of Pitch@Palace, at St James' Palace.

The workshop was marked by the notable participation of the UAE where Dr. Al Shaali presented to a global audience about the pioneering position of the UAE and Abu Dhabi in promoting entrepreneurship and developing small and medium enterprises, as well as a strategic location to start up business. He further discussed the UAE's geographic advantages, serving as an ideal link between various regions, the security and safety enjoyed by residents and citizens, ease of doing business in an open economy, as well as economic and political stability.

Dr. Al Shaali emphasized the central role of the country’s leadership, H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and guidance of H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, in creating the best supportive environment for entrepreneurs engaged in various sectors. He noted that the UAE has developed many strategies and policies that helped strengthen the economy, facilitate business practices, enhance transparency, encourage innovation and focus on sustainable business growth.

The participants of the workshop which also included the winners of the Pitch@Palace from the GCC, Hungary, China and Australia, discussed the present and the future of entrepreneurship around the world and the importance of promoting SMEs which have significant contribution to local economies and GDP growth of countries. The workshop also included a detailed presentation on the outstanding services provided by Khalifa Fund as a regional and international model in supporting and developing entrepreneurship.

H.E. Al Darmaki, commented on Khalifa Fund’s participation at the leading event, and noted: “Since 2007, we have been working to support SMEs and raise the level of administrative and technical efficiency of existing entrepreneurs.
