Dubai, UAE – Canon, a provider of imaging technologies and services, has partnered with Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to support ‘Public Transport Day 2018’ which is being held from 25 October until 1 November 2018. As mark of celebration, Canon is organising on ground activation across the various location at Dubai Metro Stations including Jaflya, Union and Sharaf DG.

The partnership aims to motivate and encourage the community to use public transportation during this period to reduce the amount of carbon emissions from transportation and to educate the public about sustainable transportation practices. Taking public transportation helps cities reduce smog, improve air quality standards, and decrease the health risks of poor air quality for residents among other significant benefits.

Canon is supporting the ‘Public Transport Day 2018’ initiative by providing the RTA with their state of art revolutionary products including M 50, 4000D DSRL, Selphy printer and Zoemini. These products will be used for competition purpose including influencers gifts, social media competition and NOL Card competitions.

In order to engage more with the public and increase awareness about the campaign, RTA will be using Canon Zoemini logo on NOL cards. A social media competition is also being held where the user would need take a picture of their own NOL card post and it on social media using the hashtag #Wemovetogatheron and look for the other person who got the other half to complete the products, so they can claim their prize. First 108 people who find their ZOEMINI Match will win a ZOEMINI product.

RTA is also organising a series of events which will be marked by a variety of activities to be held in collaboration with various private entities. On the Public Transport Day on November 1, the RTA will try and break the world record for the mobility of the largest possible number of multi-national riders at Etisalat Metro Station.

Dubai is one of the most diverse cities in the world, and public transport system is what keeps this varied mix of people moving together. Dubai is also capitalising on latest technologies to provide its residents a unique city experience when it comes to mobility solutions. Dubai has also set a target to provide 7 per cent of its total power output from clean energy by 2020. This target will increase to 25 per cent by 2030 and 75 per cent by 2050.[1]
