Dubai, UAE - At present, water conversation has become a key topic of discussion for the GCC region as water scarcity is particularly acute. This year, we witnessed Cape Town turning off water taps to homes and businesses and this can most certainly be the fate of many countries across the world and in particular this region if adequate measures are not taken.

Recent reports have stated that In the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, water scarcity is particularly acute. The per capita total renewable water resources (TARWR) in GCC countries in 2014 was just 86.6 cubic metres, compared to a global average of almost 17,575 cubic metres. Decreased rainfall, stronger heat waves, and prolonged drought have exacerbated the already arid climates of countries in the Arab Peninsula. Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait had respective per capita TARWRs of 84, 26, 16, and 5 cubic metres in 2014 - effectively nothing - and limited surface water resources. In the face of water scarcity, GCC countries have primarily focused on securing supply, increasingly through desalination.

Furthermore, earlier this year, at the Ministerial Session of the Food Security Forum in Dubai the Minister of State for Food Security, Mariam Al Muhairi, said that water security is the biggest challenge in the UAE and added that it can only be met through innovative solutions and technologies that are both adaptive and innovative.

One such innovative solution from LG is the TWINWashTM washing machine which enables home owners to do double the load of laundry in half the time. The future-oriented washer features accessible dual compartments providing the capability to simultaneously wash two separate loads of laundry at the same time. This along with a slew of other innovations makes the LG TWINWash™ one of the most energy efficient and sustainable washer dryers in the market today. You just have to set it and forget it, allowing you to focus on more important things in life.

In fact, the LG TWINWashTM washing machine offers state-of-the-art features including TurboWash which saves up to 30 minutes on larger loads without sacrificing on cleaning performance – enabling them to spend more time at the parks, beaches or even playing sports.

Furthermore, in terms of innovation, LG TWINWash™ comes with a 6 Motion Direct Drive technology which moves the wash drum in six different directions giving your fabric the best care while cleaning. Two high-efficiency Inverter Direct Drive motors also enhance washing performance and durability while reducing noise and vibration. In addition, the motors dissipate less energy which reduces electricity consumption during the season where energy usage peaks.

“We understand the concerns of countries and individuals regarding both costs to themselves as well as the environment,” said Mr. Kevin Cha, President LG Electronics Middle East & Africa. “LG’s key focus is to innovate for a better future. Doing laundry – particularly for larger families – uses a lot of water and energy and takes up a lot of time. By significantly cutting the time spent and water used during each cycle, every home owner can contribute in a small way to protecting the environment and conversing our limited water resources for future generations to enjoy.”

For those customers that are concerned about renewable energy or climate control the LG TWINWashTM offers an EcoHybrid option to save more energy and water. Select either Eco dry mode, which uses no water for condensing, or normal dry mode to shorten the entire drying cycle and reduce energy costs.

LG’s philosophy revolves around people, sincerity and sticking to the fundamentals to protect the world around us. The TWINWash™ was designed to offer optimum solutions to customer needs across any energy management system in any country thus helping them lead a better, liveable and enjoyable life.
