(TAP) - Grain harvest reached its peak. Collected quantities, till June 20, reached nearly 3.367 million quintals, against 3.227 million quintals last season, most of which is durum wheat crop, said to TAP assistant director at the production general directorate in the Agriculture Ministry Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane.

According to director of quality at the Grain Board Salwa Zouari, this season's grain quality is average. "The hot climate that marked the month of May had relatively impacted on the size," she said, speaking about a low rate of loss of vitreous aspect of durum wheat.

The average crop reached 200,000 quintals per day, Ben Romdhane specified, pointing out that the grain production delivered to the Grain Board (direct sales, deposit...) reached 359,000 quintals, i.e. 10.6% of the total collected grains.

Grain production expected for the 2015/2016 season is estimated at nearly 14 million quintals against 13 million last season.
