The Information Technology Authority (ITA), in cooperation with Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), will organise a lecture on Startups Opportunities and Emerging Technologies at the varsity on Tuesday.

Dr Belgacem Haba, the guest of honour at the Sultan Qaboos Award for Excellence in eGovernment awards ceremony, will present the lecture at 11.30am.

Also gracing the occasion will be Dr Ali bin Saud al Bemani, vice chancellor of SQU, and Dr Salim bin Sultan al Ruzaiqi, CEO of ITA.

The event targets university and college students, IT entrepreneurs and those who are interested in IT and entrepreneurship.

In his talk, Dr Haba will narrate his journey of success, the challenges he faced and how he overcame these as well as present his experiences with the available market opportunities in emerging technologies for SMEs and entrepreneurs. Additionally, he will discuss the fourth industrial revolutions emerging technologies and how to be prepared to adopt them and benefit from these in projects in the sultanate.

In 2017, he opened the Haba Institute in Algeria to help young entrepreneurs. Dr Haba has authored numerous technical publications and participated in many conferences worldwide. His latest activities include the development of 3D technology for mobile phones and servers.
