Amman, Jordan : In line with its efforts to provide an online source of information in Arabic for the Jordanian youth, as well as facilitate their access to rich and free educational content, Umniah has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Edraak, a massive open online course (MOOC) platform for the promotion of knowledge in the Arab world.

Under the MoU, which was signed by Umniah CEO Ziad Shatara and Edraak CEO Shireen Yacoub, Umniah will publish educational content by Edraak on the 8Log, a blog launched last year to enrich Arabic content on the internet.

Following the signing of the MoU, Shatara expressed his happiness with the partnership and said: “At Umniah, we believe in the importance of providing means of knowledge and quality education for all, and we hope that this partnership will result in achieving our common goals in providing opportunities to access knowledge and sciences through our blog, The 8Log, which has become in record time a valuable source of information for many.”

Edraak CEO Shireen Yacoub expressed her pride in this cooperation with Umniah, one of the leading telecommunications providers in Jordan, to publish educational content by Edraak and its blog on the 8Log, helping those looking for knowledge to learn in a fun, smart, and modern way.

Edraak aims to revolutionize access to and delivery of education in the Arab world by providing quality education in Arabic and encouraging continuous learning in school education, higher education, and for professional development. Edraak offers a wide variety of free online courses provided by the best and finest universities and institutions, while harnessing regional and international Arab talent in order to leverage today’s technologies.

The 8Log, which was launched in February last year with the goal of enriching Arabic content on the internet, as well as providing young people with information from a varied and reliable source, has produced more than 270 articles so far, and highlighted several Jordanian success stories.
