(TAP)- The World Bank (WB)'s annual report on the state of the global economy forecasts Tunisia's economic growth to edge up to 2.7% in 2018, far below the government's 3% growth projection.

Growth will pick up to 3.3% in 2019 and through 2020, the report indicated. The forecasts come against the backdrop of demonstrations since the beginning of 2018 against high living costs.

The WB projections for Tunisia also come as the world economy is expected to grow at a 3.1% rate, driven by the flow of foreign investments rising more than expected in 2017.

Growth in emerging and developing countries is anticipated to exceed 4% in 2018. Similarly, developed nations will see their growth rates edge higher.
